What is an ultrasonic fuel level sensor?
The ultrasonic fuel level sensor is a non-invasive device that does not require contact with the fuel and measures the fuel level in truck fuel tanks or generators. It is easy to install and environmentally friendly compared to other external fuel tank level sensor that needs to drill a hole on the tank before installation.
How does an ultrasonic level sensor work?
The ultrasonic level sensor measures fuel level using ultrasonic waves. The sensor head emits an ultrasonic wave and receives the wave reflected from the monitoring target.
The distance can be calculated with the following formula: Distance L= 1/2 x T x C
Where L is the distance, Tis the time between the emission and reception, and C is the sonic speed. (The value is multiplied by 1/2 because T is the time for the go-and-return distance.)

Ultrasonic technology is a very common liquid level sensor whose accuracy depends on the current reading. Ultrasonic sensors use sound waves to detect the liquid level, including fuel , diesel, and water. These liquid level sensors can have a resolution as high as 0.1 mm and an accuracy of 0.1% of the detected range in theory. With software data calibration, the fuel amount left in tank accuracy is above 98%.

For ultrasonic sensing, the most widely used range is 40 to 70 kHz. The frequency determines range and resolution. The maximum range of our products is presently 20 meters. At 70 kHz, the measurement resolution is 0.1 mm and the range is up to 20 meters. The default sensor work range is 1 meter.
